What a basic care program provides
Whether a person is just starting off in life or nearing retirement age, a program offering sharing eligibility for basic health care is important. With a basic cost-sharing program, members make monthly contributions and then have sharing eligibility for an array of services, such as preventive care, primary care, urgent care, lab work and diagnostics, telemedicine, chronic maintenance, pediatric care, and prescription discounts. All they need to do is pay a low consult fee (ranging from $25 to $45) when at the doctor’s office.
PrimaCare’s basic care program focuses on quality primary care
With monthly contributions, PrimaCare members receive unlimited wellness & preventive care visits at participating network facilities without paying consult fees. If other medical needs are addressed during these visits, members are responsible for the non-preventive costs at the time of those visits.
Primary care services are available for a low consult fee and may include some office procedures. Most immunizations and vaccines are done in the office at the time of the visit without additional charge. Plus, annual physicals are available at no consult fee after nine months of continuous membership or immediately at program consult fee.
Affordable health care through the reduction of redundancy and cost
The monthly contributions for PrimaCare members vary depending on the program level that is chosen, the age of the members, and the number of dependents. In order to keep costs down, members are encouraged to remain healthy throughout the year and keep up with a preventive care schedule, including screenings, immunizations and flu shots.
All lab work and diagnostics are included at primary and urgent care facilities; members simply pay a $25 per x-ray read fee (this price may vary by city). To make the doctor more accessible and convenient, basic health care includes telemedicine visits with monthly contributions. Now, whether members are at work, at home, on vacation, or on the road, a U.S. board-certified doctor can be reached via phone or video chat 24/7. These doctors can easily diagnose many problems and write prescriptions over the phone. If necessary, they can recommend follow-ups at a qualified doctor’s or specialist’s office.
When telemedicine just won’t do the job, members can visit a participating in-network primary care physician for sick care with a low consult fee. Depending on the program, primary care visits may be limited to either three visits per year or unlimited with consult fee. Every PrimaCare program includes a prescription discount program that can provide substantial prescription discounts, though savings may vary from month to month depending on the fluctuation of pricing by formularies. For families with children, programs that offer unlimited pediatric visits with monthly contributions are also available.
Trinity’s basic care program is not a traditional medical plan
PrimaCare is not health insurance. It is designed to aid the member in navigating the health care system in a cost-effective and meaningful way. It is not intended to cover hospitalization or other major medical needs, but rather to provide basic care that most of us need and can afford.
The pros and cons of basic care
Basic care has both advantages and disadvantages. With the lower cost in monthly contributions and affordable office visits, members can set aside the monthly savings to help offset the times when larger, unexpected medical expenses hit. Being able to save using telemedicine also means more money should be available for larger medical bills later.
Since basic care doesn’t include sharing eligibility for hospitalization, many members choose to have an additional cost-sharing program. Trinity’s catastrophic program, CarePlus Advantage, compliments PrimaCare, and the cost of the two programs together is generally very affordable. The savings in monthly contributions can then be used to offset a higher Member Shared Responsibility Amount (MSRA) for the catastrophic policy.
Making decisions about health care is extremely important. You don’t have to sacrifice quality for monthly cost. With PrimaCare, members have the power to access quality health care at a price they can afford.
